What Does TPMS Mean?
TPMS is a safety technology feature that stands for Tire Pressure Monitoring System. This safety feature uses tire pressure sensors to track the air pressure of your tires. If it senses that one or more of the tires are not at the recommended pressure, a warning light on your dashboard will turn on or flash alerting you to add air to your tire. Most new Land Rover vehicles have the TPMS safety technology, which makes it easy to prevent tire failure on the Huntington roads. Tire Pressure Monitoring System Features
The purpose of this system is to track the pressure inside your tires and alert you when the levels get too low. The TPMS dashboard warning light looks like a flat tire with an exclamation point in the middle or it could just have “TPMS” illuminated. If you noticed your light is on, your tires are under-inflated, which can cause:
- Poor traction
- Decreased load carrying capability
- A flat tire or blowout
- Poor fuel economy
Proper tire inflation protects you from a potential accident on the Parkersburg roads and helps prevent your tires from wearing out prematurely, as well as optimize fuel economy. It also allows you to keep track of your tire pressure without having to remember to do this manually yourself.
Proper Tire Inflation
Having either over- or under-inflated tires can lead to a variety of issues. Whereas, a properly inflated tire will:
- Reduce tread movement which increases the life of the tire
- Reduce rolling resistance to increase vehicle efficiency
- Increase water dispersion which decreases the likelihood of hydroplaning
There are several options with filling up your tires:
- Wheeling gas stations have tire filling areas separate from the pump station.
- You can bring your vehicle to our Charleston service center for full tire service.
- If you need additional air in your tires quickly, a bike pump will work!
